Making sense of the ever-changing would of breast cancer can be overwhelming. AS International High school student it is our job to connect to these issues and try to impact our community and a small but effective way. Our goal was to get International High School students aware of breast cancer and why early detection is so important. Therefore, we begin our project with a presentation in the auditorium about breast cancer. First, my partner Kimberly Guity and I looked for an organization that we could work with and fundraised for. We found an organization called the Rose that was willing to work with us. We kept in touch with a lady named Michelle Handson who works with us to fundraised money to donate and help nearly 9 women in the Houston area. At the beginning we had no idea what type of fundraiser to held because the school is really small with nearly 300 people. We turned to our sponsors Coach Nash, and Ms. Williams to get their input on what my partner and I should you do. We we’re lucky because Coach Nash got us in touch with a company that can cater our spaghetti dinner.

Our goal was initially to fundraised 2,000 dollars but because we had so little time we quickly realized it was impossible to fundraise two-thousand dollars. We started organizing our project nearly one month ahead of time in order for us to get enough time to finish our project. The first thing Kimberly and I did was find a person to help us out with cooking for the spaghetti dinner. We spoke to coach Nash and she said that her husband company can help us out with the dinner so; we got in touch with her husband. We we’re grateful because not only was he willing to cook the dinner; he would cook it for free, which was a big relieved for us. We we’re surprised when we we’re getting positive outcomes when we started the project. People were willing to help in any way they possibly can. One person who helped us out the most was Ms. Melanie. She helped us organized our dinner by purchasing all the materials that was needed for the dinner. My partner and I were fortunate enough to avoid any set back during the whole process.

Our dinner was successful; we invited different people from different places including my mentors and other successful people I met during an internship over the summer. At the beginning we were skeptical as to whether or not people would show up to the dinner or not but in the end they showed up. We raised over 900 dollars to donate to the Rose. After nearly months of hard work we raised almost nearly a thousand dollars to help 9 women received treatment.
